Comment:This is the January 2003 combined whole genome shotgun assembly of Rattus norvegicus. It contains 29 million Brown Norway fragments sequenced by Celera and external sources and nearly eight million Celera-proprietary Sprague-Dawley sequence fragments. The assembly process relied on Celera's paired reads and BAC end reads from TIGR for long range order and orientation. Its scaffolds were mapped to chromosomes using STS maps.
