Although microsporidia were once thought to have evolved from an ancient eukaryotic lineage before the acquisition of mitochondria, there is growing evidence that they are highly evolved fungi.<br /><br />Antonospora locustae infects grasshoppers and crickets and is slow to kill its host. |
