A database for cytoskeletal and motor protein sequence information
Acceptance of our analysis of the myosins (September 2007)Recently, the analysis of the myosin repertoire in eukaryotes has been finished and published. F. Odronitz & M. Kollmar (2007)
Genome Biology 8, R196.
For a thorough review of the work of Richards and Cavalier-Smith (Nature 2005), and Foth, Goedecke, and Soldati (PNAS 2006) please contact M. Kollmar. Purpose of the DatabaseCyMoBase is a database driven web application that is designed to assist researchers investigating structure, function and phylogeny of cytoskeletal and motor proteins during their daily work. UsageThe web interface has been designed using the next generation internet features (Web 2.0). LimitationsAt the moment, CyMoBase only contains protein sequences. NoteThe domain predictions are based on the profiles of Pfam_fs release 19.0 database containing 8183 hidden markov models. We haven't included the resuls of the updated profiles yet that have been derived from our alignments, as well as coiled-coil and motif predictions. Therefore the domain organisation images will undergo severe changes in the near future. |
News2009-01-01This is a major update of the web-interface and the myosin data. Several new search modules and result views have been developed and some hundred new myosin and other motor protein sequences added. Coming nextProtein projectsAnalysis of the kinesins. New database featuresCurrently, we are working on an interactive tool that will allow the user to move through the alignment of selected sequences. On top of the to-do-list also is the inclusion of the updated domain profiles. |
